Our verdict

✓Volt Verdict Verified: Sourced specs & compliance
A hybrid of a downhill e-MTB and a light dirt bike, with pedals, a throttle and Magura brakes, for private land or tracks only.

Who it's for

Riders wanting a pedal-capable bike with dirt bike power, in sizes M, L or XL. Despite its pedals it isn't a pedelec and can't be registered, so it is off-road only, not for roads, paths or other public land. No minimum rider age is stated.

Alternatives

The Sur-Ron Light Bee X and Talaria XXX Pro are cheaper light dirt bikes without pedals.

Strengths

  • 34 kg, by far the lightest adult e-moto here
  • Magura MT5 4-piston brakes, 220 mm front and 203 mm rear
  • Torque-sensing pedal assist plus a twist throttle, 6000 W peak and 280 Nm
  • 200 mm fork and 170 mm rear travel

Drawbacks

  • Off-road only: not a pedelec and not registrable
  • 1300 Wh battery, with range quoted at 20 to 60 km
  • Dearer than the Sur-Ron Light Bee X and Talaria XXX Pro
  • PEDL says a qualified mechanic must assemble it if shipped

Legal status

Where can you ride it?

Rules by state →
Bicycle rules
Not a bicycle
Its power and speed are far beyond the 250 W, 25 km/h pedelec limits, so bicycle rules don't apply.
Road registration
Off-road only
Stated by the maker or its Australian distributor. Source: ridebonnell.com.

An unregistered e-moto can only be ridden on private land with the owner's permission, or at a track or park that allows it. Riding one on roads, footpaths, bike paths or parks risks fines, and in some states the bike can be seized.

Where you can legally ride an e-moto →

Note: Bonnell lists the intended use as off-road. With 6,000 W peak and a full twist throttle it is not a pedelec, even though it has pedals. No ADR or registration claim.
