Private e-scooters are legal in public in VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS and the ACT, with speed and age limits. They are still illegal in public in NSW and the NT. Check your state before you buy.

Heads up: Most scooters here can go faster than the legal limit: 25 km/h in most states that allow private e-scooters, and 20 km/h in VIC. They must be limited to ride legally in public.
