Editor's take
Our verdict
A junior motocross race bike with six lockable ride modes, by far the dearest kids' model here.
Who it's for
Parents of junior riders, from beginners to club racers, wanting an electric alternative to a 50 cc bike; KTM states no age range or rider weight. It is an off-road motor vehicle, not a bicycle or toy, so it can't be ridden on roads, paths or parks, only on private land with permission or at a club track.
Alternatives
The KTM SX-E 2.12 is a smaller and much cheaper KTM, and the CFMOTO CFX-5E is far cheaper with a larger battery.
Strengths
- Six ride modes, lockable with a dongle so a child can't select a stronger one
- Rollover sensor cuts power
- 2 kW rated, 5 kW peak, with a 907 Wh battery
- Seat height adjusts from 634 to 682 mm and the air fork sets to rider weight
Drawbacks
- By far the dearest kids' model here
- Weight and top speed aren't stated
- About 30 minutes of racing per charge, or about 2 hours of beginner riding
- Not registrable: off-road or track use only

Legal status
Where can you ride it?
- Bicycle rules
- Not a bicycle
- Its power and speed are far beyond the 250 W, 25 km/h pedelec limits, so bicycle rules don't apply.
- Road registration
- Off-road only
- Stated by the maker or its Australian distributor. Source: ktm.com.
An unregistered e-moto can only be ridden on private land with the owner's permission, or at a track or park that allows it. Riding one on roads, footpaths, bike paths or parks risks fines, and in some states the bike can be seized.
Note: Junior motocross competition bike; off-road / track use only, not road registrable.
